Spring's Pink and Coral Makeup Trend

Apr06

I've been reading about spring's newest color trend, pink and coral. I wasn't real sure about the combination for myself, being a natural redhead and all, but I thought I'd give it a try. After all, warmer weather and sunnier days are ahead, and wearing bright colors always makes me feel more energized.

So I experimented with a couple different pink/coral looks. I tried coral lips, pink cheeks. Then I tried a little pink on the eyelids, coral lips, pink cheeks. Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled with the results.

I'm open to trying new things with makeup. I really do hate to get into a rut, but I think I'd prefer to try one of these colors at a time. I think it could be a fabulous look for someone with the right skin and hair coloring. Not for this redhead, freckle face girl. While it's fun to experiment, we moms have learned that we don't have to follow every trend that comes around. We know what works for us, what makes us feel fabulous, and what we like. Follow your instincts when it comes to beauty and style!

Mary,
Take it from a fellow makeup junkie--you probably just tried the wrong shades. Like you, I'm a blue-eyed, freckle face. Choosing the wrong coral or pink shades makes us look like lab rats. Hee.

Instead--try some of my favorites from MAC and Stila:

Use MAC Jest eyeshadow on browbone--it makes your blue eyes POP.
Then, apply a nice neutral shadow to your lid. I like MAC Era or Brun (Brun is dark--makes a great liner!)
Dab a bit of Stila Convertible Color in Gerbera onto the apples of your cheeks. Soften with a dusting of loose powder if you'd like.
Then, swipe on some MAC Lipglass in Big Kiss for the finishing touch!

Voila...a coral/pink beauty!! Smiling

Ooh, Heather, that does sound pretty. I guess I was just kind of experimenting with what I had in my makeup drawer. I will definitely look into it! Thanks for the tips.

I absolutly agree with Heather, a nice neutral brown on the eyes and a coffee color on the lips will enhance your features. Mature woman need to stay away from the barbie pinks, at least for makeup, however I do wear pink clothes. You have many options for hair colors. You seem to have a warm and cool hue complextion, this is rare! Maybe due some very subtle highlights on your hair crown???? More info www.homehaircoloringcleanupkit.com.
