Mom Bloggers: I Want To Hear Your Story!

Sep03

What If. . . Wednesday is here again, and I've been thinking about some things.  "Mary, you're ALWAYS thinking about things!", you say?  I know, I know.  If you can help me with a way to shut down my thoughts for just a bit, please let me know.  Sometimes I think my thinking gets me in trouble!  But I really was thinking lately about my life since blogging, about interesting topics to write on, about all the amazing people I've connected with recently.  Remember my post on how my life's changed since I started blogging?  I wondered about other moms and how blogging has affected their lives.  Well, a writer can't just sit around wondering; she has to get up and find things out!  So that's what I'm doing, stepping out of the old comfort zone into the realm of the new and unknown.

I've put out requests on Mom Bloggers Club and Twitter asking for moms to tell me about their blogging transformations, and I've received quite a few responses.  I plan to interview interested moms and share their stories here at Everyday Baby Steps.  Each week, I will showcase a Friday Feature Profile.  Not to worry, though.  I'll still throw in some random Friday Fun now and again!

So if you've got a great story about the impact blogging has had on your life, please leave a comment or e-mail me at marybabysteps(at)aol(dot)com.  While I know everyone has their own unique story, I'd like to limit feature profiles to mom bloggers for now so as not to overwhelm myself.  Also let me know your preferred method of communication.  I can e-mail you a list of interview questions or I can call you at an agreed upon time.  I prefer telephone interviews as they're more casual and natural, but it's entirely up to you!  One more thing, I'd really like to take what I learn from you all and put it into a future article.  So, who knows, maybe your story will end up in a national publication in the not too distant future!

I'm game and happy to be a part of this if you need me. Blogging has totally changed my life. A quick example I wrote about here: http://morningsidemom.wordpress.com/2008/07/03/if-you-blog-it-they-will-...

Blogging has changed my life - it was through reading blogs that I discovered the possibility of working from home and that is life-changing for sure! I've also been able to use my mom blog as an outlet for the stress and anxiety of being a mom of 3 boys and I'm so glad I have this option.
I'd love to chat with you about it sometime!

Blogging woke up the inner writer within and taught me that I need to make a living crafting words. Last month I quit my 9-5 job and launched a freelance writing career.

Blogging also seems to have brought me closer to my older sister and has mended fences between my father and me. (Well, first it smashed the broken fences to smithereens, but then it enabled us to rebuild.)

Great idea for an article!

My social life had become sub par since the birth of my son. I had to look for something that allowed me to complain and use curse words and look back at my awkwardly sucky-at-times life and laugh. It's good therapy.

Blogging is new to me. I started earnestly about 3 months ago, and I was not sure what I would find in this "new world." What I have found, however, is as the mother of a child who does not fit "in the box," I am not alone. I have found other mothers who are trying their level best to parent and raise a child who is both gifted and has special needs. And those are mothers I couldn't find in the relatively small town where I live. Finding these women in such similar shoes as mine has provided me with a community and a support system I could never have found where I live. And for that I am incredibly thankful!

Yes, blogging has changed my life in a myriad of amazing and life-changing ways. Where do I even start? The computer has become my new best friend. I'll spend HOURS on it, leaving the TV to babysit my child, and my dog to feed her scraps from the trash when she's hungry. Of course, I'm only doing bloggy things, so my husband, adrift on the ocean somewhere, now goes days, even weeks without getting a return email from me. Oh, and my a$$ is at LEAST 10% wider!
OK, seriously, I love it and see so many possibilities with it. But I'm still so new at it (not even two months yet!) I don't have an inspiring story for you. Unless you want me to make one up. And I'm more then willing to do that!

My blogging has changed my life. I've met so many people around the world and I'm a writer, so it lets me write every day with readers-my dream come true! Now to make money with it-lol!

This is an awesome idea! I'm not sure that I want to speak out quite yet about how blogging has changed my life, but I'll definitely keep this in mind Smiling

I really appreciate this question. It makes me think more about the time that I put into this 'hobby' of mine. What's it for? Why do I do this?
This will take me a little bit to sort through.
It's really an excellent question Mary!

Came to you through burghmoms. Great to have new people! I hope to meet you at the next meet-up!

(Also, blogging has changed my life. If it weren't for blogging, I never would have met all of these wonderful Pittsburgh Mommy Bloggers and I wouldn't be living in the house I am now thank to one of them!)
