Today's Thankful Thursday is dedicated to my amazing husband, Bill. I feel compelled to write about just how much I appreciate him. Recently, I've come across two women who lost their husbands to accident and illness. One had been married a relatively short time, while the other was married to the love of her life for 25 years. Both of these women came back into my life quite accidentally. To essentially "run into" these ladies and hear their heartbreaking stories within days of each other is, to me, more than coincidence. In fact, the woman who had been married for 25 years actually said to me, "Never take your husband for granted." While I try to thank him every day for the little things that he does, I'd like to try to put into words just how wonderful he is and what he means to me.
Bill, according to the baby name books, means "Bold Protector", a meaning that couldn't be more fitting. He protects me and the children, as well as everyone he loves, every day. He wakes up each day at three o'clock in the morning to go to his job as the News Director at the local radio stations. After work, he either checks in on his 92-year old father, visits his sister, or runs errands at the store - he always calls me before coming home to see if we need anything. I've never met anyone who does so much for the people he loves or is affected so deeply by their feelings.
From practically day one of our relationship, he took responsibility for my two children. He'll tell anyone he has three kids, not two stepchildren and a baby. I admire that. By the way, we were reunited after many years by chance. I don't believe there are any coincidences - always look for the deeper meaning in things and events; things do happen for a reason.
I could go on and on, but I will simply say that Bill is the love of my life. I feel passionately about him, a feeling that I've never known before. He's the most incredibly intelligent person I've ever met, and he makes me feel truly loved each and every day. For my Bold Protector, I am thankful.
